District Web Quizes

Now available are a series of new web based competitions. There is 1 for each section. For Anchor, Junior and Company sections the competition can be downloaded as a pdf document. The Senior Section competition is fully online.

Rearranged YLT (Day 1)

The rearranged date for YLT course cancelled on 9th January, due to adverse weather conditions, is Saturday 20th March. The course will take place at the same venue in Hull. The Training Manager is asking those who were attending the January course to complete a new booking form to indicate they can attend the new date.

District AGM

The District AGM for 2010 will take place in Grimsby on Saturday 13th March. Booking details are now available.

District Executive Meeting, January 2010

The next meeting of the Executive will take place on Saturday 30th January at Carlton URC in Halifax (4th Halifax) commencing at 1pm. The executive will be preceeded by a training meeting starting at 10.30am. There will not be a U26 Officers meeting.

Holiday Leadership course

A course for those Leaders wishing to gain their Holiday Leadership Certificate will take place on Saturday 27th February 2010 in Hull.

Build Your Skills Course

Yorkshire County Battalion are holding a BYS course in Airdale on Saturday 13th February 2010. Booking details are now available.

Skills for Queens Badge (& Leadership Training)

In response to the October course being over subscribed a second course has been organised for 26-28th March 2010.

DofE Leaders Training Day

A training day for potential, new and existing DofE Leaders will take place at Felden Lodge on Saturday 13 February 2010.

Halifax Battalion, Young Leaders Night

A number of young leaders from the Halifax Battalion met to start up the Battalion's Young Leaders Forum.

Omega Zone

Omega Zone is a skill-based course for anyone who wants to engage young people in worship. Mr Dave Godfrey who is a songwriter, ex-teacher, trainer and worship leader will lead the course.

YLT Course Hull

The YLT course split over 2 days will now take place in January (DAY 1) & possibly May in Hull. The November weekend has had to be postponed.

A number of additional training/other events have been added to the calendar.

BYS Course in Grimsby

Bookings for the "Building Your Skills" course which takes place on Saturday 15th November are now being taken.

Lord Lieutenant's Garden Party

A report from Jack Towler, a Queen's Man, who attended the event held by the Lord Lieutenat to recognise young achievers.

Reception for Roy Barson MBE

A reception for Roy Barson MBE, former field Officer in the District, is to be held on October 10th to mark his 90th Birthday. The event will take place at 4pm at The Kings Way Church in Ossett.

BB Hospices Appeal

The District has so far raised over £9000 for the Brigades 125 appeal.

Company & Senior Competition

Though there were some good enteries there were no winners. Another competition will take place in the October half term.

Skills Based Training

This course is open to all Seniors (school years 11, 12 or 13) in September who require a Skills & Leadership based course so that they can work within their Company. The Course is also suitable as one route for those working for their Queen's Badge as it will give them the foundations to carry out their taking Responsibility within the Brigade or Church section of the Award.
