1st Alford in connection with Grimsby Battalion will be offering the opportunity to attend a two day First Aid course. The 2 six hours sessions will take place on Saturday 18th and 25th June in Alford.

A course for Captains, Potential Captains and Officers in Charge of Sections will take place in Hull on Saturday 18th June.

The National Brass Band Association is holding a Band Training Weekend at RAF Northolt from 29th April to 2nd May 2011. It is open to anyone in a Company who plays a brass valved instrument regardless of whether they play in a Band. Click the title to download a poster giving more details.

The 2011 AGM will be hosted by Halifax Battalion at Southgate Methodist Church Elland. Booking Forms are now available and should be returned by 29th January.

Details of the course which will be led by Dave Dodfrey to be held in Hull on Saturday 22nd 2011 are now available. The course is to be followed with a praise party for children aged 5 to 12. Posters advertising the course and Praise Party are available to download as pdf's.

Leeds Battalion have organised a Company Management Workshop to take place on 4th December at Garforth Methodist Church. The course is open to all Captains and Leaders in Charge in the District. More details and bookings should be made via Tim Gaoddard, the Leeds Battalion Training Convenor.

A BYS course will take place at Haven Methodist Church in Grimsby on Saturday 28th November. Details and bookings are now available.

A DCSL course will take place in Hull on Saturday 20th November. Details and bookings are now available.

On Saturday 2nd October the 24th Hull Company welcomed many former members and special guests to their 90th Anniversary celebrations.

Halifax BBGB Band has been hard at work this week in preparation for the British Youth Band Association National Finals which is being held at ‘The Alexandra Stadium’ in Crewe on 3rd October 2010.

Lads from the 18th Halifax Boys’ Brigade Company based at Boothtown Methodist Church were over the moon when their brand new games equipment arrived last Wednesday.

This event will take place in Hull on Saturday 6 and 13th November. Those interested in the course should contact Paddi McGowan the District Training Convenor.

A YSL course for young people in years 7 to 9 is to take place in Hull on 16th October.

A YLT course has been organised by Sheffield Battalion to take place at Green Moor on 16-17th October.

An Emergency First Aid Course is to be held in Hull on Saturday 18th September. The training is open to all staff and Seniors.

The 5th Hull Company has recieved funding which has enabled them to purchase a fully accessible minibus and to set up an AMICUS group.

Recipients of the Queen's Badge from the 5th Hull Company included the first young lady to recieve the award in the District.

A new set of Tracker Packs for 4 circular walks around sections of the Wolds Way are now available. The packs contain maps, challenges, and games can be borrowed free (with £10 deposit and proof of identity) from locations in the East Riding. Click link for more information.

Throughout the coming season there will be a fantasy football competition for all members, young people and staff, of the District. There will be awards for winners at the end of the season as well as a monthly 'Manager of the Month' certificate.

The presentation of Queen's Badges to recipients took place at Halifax Town Hall on Wednesday 14 July. The event was attended by 15 of this years 26 recipients. The Badges were presented by Her Majesties Deputy Lord Lieutenants for West Yorkshire in the presence of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Calderdale, and the District Patron as well as various other District representatives and parents.

Every year Halifax BBGB supports the Halifax Charity Gala which this year fell on the same day as the England match. Over £1500 was raised and that half of this amount is going towards the Battalion appeal – Meningitis UK.

Owen Hughes of the 24th & 5th Hull companies was presented with the award on 14 July 2010.
