Members of the Halifax Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Brigade Band performed to a packed out audience at the Victoria Theatre on Tuesday 29th March opening the ‘Young at Heart’ Concert.
The Band Marched down the isle to the American Naval tune - Anchors Aweigh before playing La Brava, Hot Hot Hot, Food Glorious Food and Somewhere over the Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz.
The Band has been working twice as hard to ensure that the new members were ready to perform for the bands first stand still performance for 2011. Earlier on in March the band had been out in the streets of Halifax for the Mayors Parade.
Drum instructor Robert Batty said ‘it was great to see the kids excited and pleased with themselves after they came off. It makes all the hard nights rehearsing worth while’.
The band will now be rehearsing hard ready with their production – Musicals on the Move’ for the competition season which starts only months away in June.
