Halifax BBGB Band Bang for England

On 12th June England played USA and drew 1 all. They mustn’t have heard that Halifax BBGB dressed up in England gear and marched through the middle of Halifax drumming up support for their countries team!

Every year Halifax BBGB support the Halifax Charity Gala which this year fell on the same day as the England match. One of the members suggested as a joke that we should all wear England hats, and that’s exactly what we did!

We didn’t stop with just hats, all the drums had flags and other England items strapped to them. The drum line features England wigs and the brass line were in competition for who could manage to wear the biggest hat for the full procession.

Ben Fawkes said ’it was really good fun, not just being out on the road and doing what we do best but by joining in with the football fever. The next time the band will be out on the streets of Halifax will be for a more serious matter as they are leading the ‘Veterans day parade on 26th June.

On the gala field at Manor Heath the Battalion had it’s own spot and was selling burgers, hot dogs, tea’s and coffee’s. Not only that there was the ever faithful coconut shy. At one point the burger queue looked as long as the procession did. We’re happy to say that over £1500 was raised and that half of this amount is going towards the Battalion appeal – Meningitis UK.
