We had a great sleepover at the National Railway Museum with 66 boys and two girls participating from 1 st Acomb, 1 st Ackworth, 5 th Scarborough, 3 rd York , 1 st Bridlington and 24 th Hull Companies. The kids were able to take part in 11 different challenges ranging from making robot cars and paper aeroplanes to driving a diesel locomotive. Points were accrued for participating in the challenges, with bonus points awarded by leaders for particularly good efforts, asking and answering sensible questions and for good behaviour with prizes awarded to the top three scorers.
Lights out in the Great Hall was at 12.30 with reveille at 7.30. None of the museum exhibits came to life during the night and there were no ghostly sightings, except those few boys evaded by sleep - it has to be said that not all the boys (or officers) managed to get a good night's kip!
Breakfast was served in the Whistle Stop cafe, followed by devotions, the laying of a coin train alongside Stephenson's Rocket to raise funds towards the BB charity, the Association of Children's Hospices, and the presentation of the prizes.
