Volunteering as a Helper or Instructor is a rewarding way of working with children and young people and is easy to do. The Boys' Brigade is always looking for people who beleive that, or are in sympathy with, the Christian way of life to play an important role in our work with young people. More about the role of a Helper/Instructor can be found here.
Companies offer a wide range of activities for children as young as 5 to young people of 19. All of which can be enhanced by a dedicated helper. Though Companies meet on the same time on the same night each week, there is plenty of opportunity for you to work with an age group of your choice, helping with the activities that you feel most comfortable with. Whether that is organising crafts or games, running the tuck shop, even just being there as an extra pair of hands will have a large impact on the success of the Company. If you have a special skill, such as playing a musical instrument, then you can potentially increase the range of activities the Company can offer making the Company even more successful, and your efforts all the more rewarding. You will also get the opportunity to help with the wide range of other activities which take place at times other than the Company night such as, attending competitions or camps, the list is a very long one.
Not sure you have the skills? Well don't worry as training can be provided.
Want a reason to get involved? The young people you work with will always remember someone who took the trouble over them and who were committed to making their time in the BB fun and rewarding, even if it's not obvious at the time. If you would like to know more about how you can volunteer to work with a BB Company, or to contact you nearest Company then please email the
with your name, interests and address and he will put you in touch with your local Company or Battalion. |
