What is Amicus?
AMICUS is part of the BB family and it is Christian. Groups can be set up in Churches which do or don't have BB Companies. In fact an AMICUS group can be set up for the whole Battalion or a single Company.
AMICUS groups generally meet weekly and can include within their progarammes what ever activities they choose. These can include games, drama, devotions, Duke of Edinburgh and so on. An AMICUS group can plan its own trips or camps etc. even get involved in BB activities and competitions. What's Different to the Company?
- The age range is from 14 to 25;
- All members contribute to running the group;
- the members decide on the programme;
- Uniform is optional and the members decide on the uniform if they want one.
Who are the AMICUS Leaders?
As the members organise their own programme the Leader appointed to the group is there to co-ordinate activites not decide on what they are or even to deliver them.
Where is the nearest AMICUS group?
I you don't have an AMICUS group in your Church speak to your Company Officers to find out what AMICUS groups there are in your area. However, not every Battalion has an AMICUS group.
If you can't find one then think about starting one, so speak up or it will never happen! |
