Awards are gained on a points system where 1 hour of activity from a single Topic equals 1 point. The awards which you can achieve, in order, are:

2 points each from the Community, Recreation & Skills Zones.
 
 
Community Badge

1 point minimum from each of the 3 Sub-Zones plus 1 Christian Faith and 3 points of free choice.
Recreation Badge

1 point minimum from each of the 3 Sub-Zones plus 1 Christian Faith and 6 points of free choice.
Skills Badge

1 point minimum from each of the 3 Sub-Zones plus 1 Christian Faith and 3 points of free choice.
 

There are 4 levels of each of the Community, Recreation and Skills badges, and you should aim to gain 1 level for each badge every year you are in the Company Section. But, Remember you can only count a maximum of 4 points from any Topic (the blue circle in the Discover Wheel) towards a Badge. This does not mean you cannot do more than 4 hours of activity in that Topic, just that you can only count 4 hours. Here are some examples.

   
 
Discovery Award

Awarded in year 2.

   

 

To gain the award you must have:

  • a minimum of 30 Points and have gained each of the Community, Recreation & Skills Badges in the session; and,
  • taken part in a residential event;
  • taken an active part role in a Company or Battalion event;
  • have good attendance for the session.
President's Badge

Awarded in Year 4, there are 2 ways you can achieve this award.

   

 

You should have:

  • completed a Christian Faith course;
  • a good attendance for the session;
  • be recommended by your Captain;
  • taken part in a teamwork skills experience run by the Battalion of District

AND either Route A or B below.

   
  Route A
  • Have a minimum of 30 Points and have gained each of the Community, Recreation & Skills Badges in the session;
  • taken part in a activity based residential event in the BB; and,
  • completed 10 hours of practical service in the BB or Church.

 

Route B

  • Have gained the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
