The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a programme of activities for you to do in your spare time. There are three Awards to try for: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Gold takes the longest to do and is the hardest one to try for - usually, people start off on the Bronze award.

You choose to do one activity under each section of the Award, Volunteering, Skills, Physical Recreation, Expedition as well as a Residential Project (at Gold only), and do it for a set length of time.

Doing the Award is a great laugh! It's all about trying something new, or improving your existing skills, and spending time with your friends.

You'll discover how choosing, planning and achieving personal goals can change your life. It's proving popular, as over 225,000 young people in the UK are now doing the Award.

What's more, as many employers regard the Award as an extra qualification, what you do could even benefit your career. And, with so many others taking part, you're sure to make some new friends too - and, of course, you'll have the time of your life!

Remember the BB Award Programmes follow the DofE structure, so if you are working towards your President's Badge you can complete the Bronze Award at the same time, or the Silver Award if you are doing your Queen's Badge! See How!
