The Stucture of the Boys' Brigade

The unit which children/young people are members of is the Company and this is attached to a Church or Christian Organisation. Within an area, several Companies combine into a Battalion which organises inter-company activities, leadership training initiatives, and any other requirements for that particular area. Similarly, a number of Battalions combine into a District which again organises various events, competitions, training etc. in their area. The District has a representative to one of the Regional Committees who maintains a link with the Headquarters in each region. In England the HQ is at Feldon Lodge (Hemel Hempstead) which organises National Training and has extensive amenities which can be used by Companies and Battalions. Feldon Lodge is also the home of the National HQ of the movement.

The Leaders, who are all volunteers, are called Officers, and have ranks of Captain (the Company Leader), Lieutenants (fully trained leaders with a Christian commitment) and Warrant Officers (those who have not completed full training). Companies are also supported by a team of Helpers and Instructors. More on what it takes to be a Leader can be found in the "Our Leaders" pages.
