Who is it for?
Youth Leader Training is the essential training required by anyone who wishes become an Officer in the Boys' Brigade. To be enrolled as an Officer this training should be satisfactorially completed. Warrent Officers should complete the training within 5 years of being appointed. What it Involves
The programme comprises 8 modules. Participant's will complete 6 of the modules as well as other additional Programme and activity modules. These additional modules provide opportunities for the participant's to gain extra knowledge and skills for age group they particularly wish to work with.
The 8 Modules are:
- The BB and the wider voluntary movement;
- Faith Development;
- Equal Opportunities;
- Child Protection;
- Building Relationships with young people (for those working with over 11s);
- Working effectively with young people (for those working with over 11s);
- Building Relationships with children and their parents or carers (for those working with under 11s);
- Contibuting to a child's development through the BB (for those working with under 11s).
How the Training is delivered
The course can be organised by any of the Battalions within the District, or by the District itself. The duration of the course is 2 days, which are normally delivered in a single weekend residential course. Alternatively, two 1 day courses on separate weekends are possible where there is a need.
